Did they change the way "friend requested" works now on facebook?

If I send a friend request to someone, and they have not ignored or confirmed me yet, the area where it says "request a friend" is greyed out right? Because the request is still in their hands. It's been a while now on a few people I am trying to chester cheese, and all of their things are greyed out, does that mean that it still stays greyed out if they have declined your friend request? I have a feeling that's the case...

Sadly... I've seen people on FB who are friends with people they never spoke to in HS. WTF is that? All of a sudden everybody in that HS class year are friends? Yeah ok. It's not a popularity contest like myspace is. Stop requesting with "acquaintances" - you will never speak to them even on FB.

I know! It drives me crazy when people do that. They're all liars! I mean, they say they're "friends," but they're really not! How dare they.
