The freezer trick saved my data today... so did it work for you?

Yes, it has worked for me twice. Once it saved my data and once a client's.

Saved over 60 gig of home business and music files for a client.

REALLY saving all his financial record was the real payoff($$$)!

it worked for me many times as a last ditch effort when i was doing pc support. there were a few times that the drives were just too far gone, but more often than not it worked long enough to grab SOMETHING which was often better than nothing. 🙂

edit: whoever voted that it's a myth should perhaps try a needlepoint forum. 😉

stick your dead/dying HD in the freezer . . . . leave it in 'till it is completely frozen (~10 minutes or more) . . . . reinstall it in your rig and . . . . QUICK, copy the data (repeat if necesary).

Worked for my notebook's HD. 🙂

Yes, it did work for me. And more than a year later, the HD is still working fine.
