did the Broncos get a new quarterback?

They will fail. If you can't win the superbowl with Tim Tebow as your QB, you are hopeless.

Meh.

What I was looking for was arm strength and I didn't see it from Peyton.

He is still a great play caller and executioner but he will have to throw a little harder than he showed.

what?

At that level, having the right touch is much more important than being able to throw a laser. How many times a game does an NFL quarterback actually throw a ball as hard as he can?

Yeah, I'd say he has dropped to the level of Brady in arm strength.

I get the Jets games and I saw Chad Pennington. You can be an ok quarterback with a weak arm if you do everything else well. But cornerbacks know how close they have to guard based on a QB's arm and it really makes it difficult if you can't throw the deep out. Maybe Peytons arm will get stronger but right now he is only throwing(or at least showed) as well as Chad did.

That said the Broncos have a very good team and good running game. Peyton doesn't have to be Peyton but the question is can he be Chad.

yeah arm strength is the huge indicator of how well a QB is going to do. that is why Rex Grossman rules

I'm not worried about Peyton being good at throwing the ball. He'll be fine at that. I'm worried about how he's going to hold up after the first few solid sacks.

He took a pretty good shot and he looked fine. Elway seemed happy

No, they got an old one.

I believe the term is pre-owned.

I guess we'll get a better idea of how good Manning has recovered in the regular season. In his first five games you'll get to see him on the field against Steelers, Falcons, and Patriots. All of whom should have some good passing numbers this year. So some direct comparisons will be made when it counts. He can beat the Rapelithsburger and Brady for all I care, I need my Falcons to not disappoint me in our first home game this year.

^ Peyton is the best in NFL history at minimizing damage from sacks.

I disagree with this entirely. He's exceptional at feeling pressure and side-stepping in a shrinking pocket, and therefore consistently beats the rush with short drops and that super-quick release. Opposing defenses rarely have a chance because the ball is already gone before they get there. When he is untouched and in his rhythm he is "the best in NFL history".

However, if a defense can just get hands on him once or twice he quickly becomes very ordinary and very easily rattled. Then he goes to the sideline and starts screaming at his front line :D As soon as that protection starts breaking down and he has to scrape himself off the turf a few times, he turns into a whole other dude. Or should I say "Nancy".

I still think the Broncos will be a strong contender with him there because unlike the Colts they have a defense that won't need 40 pts from the offense to win a game.

Did you really just compare Pennington and Manning? The only similarity between Peyton and Chad is that they both played football in Knoxville.

I doubt there will be many CB's cheating up on Manning
