Did Spirit or Opportunity make any meaningful discoveries?

While I am glad we got another over on mars, don't get me wrong. I was wondering did the other two rovers actually find anything important..

Anyone who does not believe that the pursuit of knowledge is meaningful is not worth convincing.

No, they didn't find anything important. In fact, NASA spent a lot of money that would have been far better invested in tax breaks for "job creators".

The main mission of Spirit and Opportunity was to gather proof to the existence of life on Mars & whether the conditions are suitable for human survival.
So i guess no.

To some, the bigoted, the ignorant, the uneducated, advances in scientific knowledge will always be meaningless, no matter how great the discoveries. For the rest of us, hell yes.

Nothing meaningful or important. We stopped going to the moon because it was a geologic dead zone and Mars is pretty much the same. The type of "discoveries" that are coming out of Mars are akin to "Wow!!! The rocks have .00000001% more iron than we predicted!" Space exploration is a giant money sinkhole.

If they would of spent all the money since the 60's on say something like a transporter like on Star Trek, wouldn't we be better off than finding out that there is or was life on Mars and other planets?

Uh... we learned we could do it? Seriously wtf? Do you think jet engine planes just appeared out of fucking no where? No you fucking retards. You guys realize every time you talk shit on these advances and question what we learned you shit on evolution. You are part of the problem holding back our species. You can only learn from something, if we never did it we'd never have learned anything. Now we know we can land a rover on mars, we understand more about the terrain and how our technology operates on the planets Surface so the next time(this time) we go back we can send even CRAZIER technology up. From this time we'll hopefully get an even better understanding and maybe people will get sent up.

Seriously it almost enrages me to read some of your posts in the threads related to our investment in space programs. People who believe in taxation and social welfare and caring for all. Finding new ways for our species to advance throughout our solar system and beyond is the best form of social welfare because it increases the odds that Earth life will go on.
