It is not a bad series to watch. Shows the modern mafioso how they integrate in society.

it starts great but it comes off the rails considerably in the last two seasons.

it's entertaining, but not really as quality as other HBO dramas imo.

The best television series ever. The acting is amazing, the writing; everything. You will not be disappointed.

 Don't listen to these fools telling you it is a soap opera or that it sucks. They're idiots with no sense of what good writing, directing or acting really is.

Start with the first episode of season 1 and you'll be hooked.

Frankly I found it extremely boring, but I also hated hated hated the godfather for the same reason so my opinion on these is quite negative.

i had an argument with my buddy on sunday about how i also dislike the godfather and he thinks it's the greatest movie ever. i watched 1 and 2 and found both of them extremely boring. and i like mob stuff, and long movies, and slow movies as well. i just found it extremely boring.

but i do love the sopranos. i've wanted to also watch it again as i haven't seen it since it aired. the show is just awesome.

Godfather 1 and 2. Two of the best movies ever made.

you're free to disagree with it, but art is subjective.

For example, I could have called you an idiot for thinking the last two seasons or the ending were at all appropriate compared to how the show began, but I didn't because you're entitled to your opinion. That doesn't make either of us wrong, or idiots, or fools for that matter, it's just a difference of taste.

I watched it recently. Some of it aged well (mobsters are timeless) some didn't (making money off stolen DVD players). I just found the actual show was a little overrated, but I am biased against the genre.

It certainly isn't like Seinfeld which is completely out-of-date in 2014 (because almost every plot would be foiled by an iPhone).

What. That's not what aging is about.

Well, it gets a 9.3/10 rating on IMDb, it was critically acclaimed when it was on and still is. It won 5 Golden Globe awards, 86 other awards and has been nominated for 217 awards total.

I think you would have to be an idiot to say that it sucks. That's like saying the Godfather sucked, it is generally accepted as being one of the best movies of all time.

At what point does it become not subjective? 10/10 rating by 100% of the population?

I never said it sucks, in fact I actually said it was great up to a certain point. Even if I had though, I don't think that would ever make me (or anyone else) an idiot. You're getting into a slippery argument with referencing awards in my opinion but I really don't want to sidetrack the discussion. I just don't think saying someone is an idiot because they might disagree really makes any sense, that's all.

Art never becomes non-subjective in my opinion.

edit: and fwiw, I believe Godfather 1 and 2 are incredible ;)

What. That's not what aging is about.

What else would it be about if not social norms, audience expectation, and adaptation to technology?

Heck 2001 a Space Odyssey with its flat screens, or TNG with touch screens aged better than Seinfeld.

Almost every Seinfeld plot:

"Well if George could just call Jerry now none of this would happen."

"Kramer could find that place if he just had Google Maps"

"You know Elaine, there is an app for that"

Its frustrating.
