Did SONY ever really intend to sell the PSP Go at $249.99 MSRP?

Yes, I think they thought it would sell for $249. They thought they were competing against the iPod Touch, which cost more when they announced the PSP Go.

Also, you don't need to type Sony in all caps - even Sony uses lowercase letters in their name (except in their logo).

Hey, go easy on him. He's used to seeing it emblazoned across all of his products. 🙂

All the devices you own is totally different than sharing it with your friends.

Perhaps you should ask an RIAA lawyer that. I also share it with my fiancee's computer.

If I'm not mistaken, the RIAA has actually even said they're fine with you keeping copies on multiple devices that you own yourself (the key is being you own them and are not sharing them with others). Why do you think even back when iTunes started out they allowed 5 devices? We're not debating the RIAA here anyways, we know they're out of their minds. I don't see how thats justification for your argument about sharing it with other people. If anything it just validates the argument for excessive DRM.

I share with others because SONY explicitly allows it.

And its already been shown that you are not right in thinking this.

First we had this, now this. If the markup was big then other retailers would've dropped their prices earlier. However, I think SONY may be testing the waters with these isolated drops. Who knows.

EDIT: I think they may just end up dropping it below the PSP-3000 and make up lost revenue at the PSN store.

Of course they intended to sell it at $249 MSRP. However, the consumer market had other ideas. Voting with the wallet still works.

No it hasn't, as I and others have pointed out.
