Why doesn't your co-worker just mind his own business? A 60% tip for a small favor is pretty good. I bet the cab driver was happy to do it.

You gave over a 50% tip....and you feel bad about it? What would you have tipped if you didn't ask him to do that?

If a stranger on the street handed me a small bag of trash and $5, i'd throw it away for them. This coming from someone who makes $50/hour. I don't see why the cabbie would be mad. It's free money.

it could be construed that the OP thought he was too good to take care of his own trash. No one would honestly think this. The OP loves attention whoring and this is just another one of his ways of doing it. Look for a stock market thread soon now that this one has backfired.

Ouch....

Ahh righto, I suppose that I couldn't comprehend how it could be construed that way after a 60% tip explains why I didn't get it. Also I didn't know about his attention whore nature.

I don't really consider myself to be an attention whore.... I don't post 95% of things on ATOT that I do.

nothing

I'm a curious person and I have no shame so I asked one of the cabbies how the system worked. This company charged each cabby $90/day rent on the cab and they had to pay for their own gas. He said his gas averaged $140/day. Sounds about right for 10 hours of driving around in city traffic. So pretty much the first $230 a cabby makes he doesn't see. Everything after that is his.

So the percentage of the tip really doesn't mean anything with cabs. Its more about the total amount than the tip.

For what it's worth, I only tip that much when I use a CC. Boston cabbies get charged 6% for credit card fares PLUS they have to wait 5 days to get the money. I didn't have cash on me, hence the added tip.
