Alright so I saved a paper and finished it.... no problem. I deleted the typing of the paper and started a new (different) paper. I got done with that and accidently clicked "save" not "save as" so it like over-wrote my 1st paper. I'm sitting here with a blank look on my face like i just owned myself. Is there anyway i can get the 1st one back? I didn't touch anything yet....

:(

I've done that before....good thing I had backups :).

I use the "New document" thing for just that...a new document, but if I want to save a lot of formatting or something like that I'll just delete certain parts of it.

ive done the same thing before, more or less...

i labored for 3 hours on a paper and when i finished i went to the beginning of the paper, did page break to add a title page. i wrote a title and then decided i didnt like it at which point i ctrl+a to 'select all' and delete my title. i delete it and put in a better title and then click save... "what a relief! i'm done with my paper." print it up and all that comes out is the title page.
dayaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamm!

well good luck rewriting your paper :)

iirc MS Word usually keeps a backup or something as long as it's still open (usually in the same directory as where you saved it) - might want to check there (it's usually used for when your comp. crashes and you haven't saved it)

It does, as a hidden file, and the location of this file can be set by the user. However, I think I remember the default save interval (also user-definable) as being every 10 minutes, but I could be wrong there.
