Did some self order lab test, how do I tell my doctor?

I have having some problems, and googled possible causes, wanted to go to doctor and ask for test, but was worried he would reject my request. So I went and ordered the labs my self and it showed abnormal levels of two hormones.

The lab show 2X the upper limit for the hormone ACTH and just over the normal upper limit for Cortisol, this was for an 8 am draw. I want to tell him the results and ask him to retest me and see what is wrong, is there any way to do this without offending or getting yelled at for self testing?

Uhh, if you're so afraid of your doctor, maybe you should find a different one.

Yeah, i know it doesnt seem like it with the way insurance is set up and stuff, but you're actually paying his salary. If you don't like him, fire him and get someone else.

I can discuss anything with my doctor. If you are not able to do this FIND another doctor. Life is to short.

Yes, I have an apppointment in 2 weeks with him and will show him then. If he does not want to considure the results and retest then I will find a new doctor. The book of doctors I can choose from has hundreds of doctors in it.

Go in to your doctor and have the following conversation:
1. I had tests X done on date Y
2. I got these results, here are the reports
3. I have read this can cause issues like Z
4. What is your opinion
5. What is the next step

The doctor works for you, you're paying them for their expertise and if you're having issues getting them to look at what you're concerned about you need a new one.

Ask your friends and coworkers about their doctors. It's one of the better ways to find good ones.

I have told my doctor many times I want certain tests run. Never gave me a problem and many times agreed with me. If you have a good doctor he will explain to you why maybe certain tests you want are not necessary, but I doubt he/she will give you a hard time.

For those of you don't believe I did any blood test, here is a image of the results, showing significantly abnormal values.

Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), also known as 'corticotropin', is often produced in response to biological stress.

Lesse...

you're stressed you might be sick..

your body produces ACHT...

ACHT shows up on your "test" ... ding ding ding

Hello Hypocondriact.

This, labs need a slip from a doc requesting a specific test, you just can't walk in and request blood work (or a cat scan) on your own..

Ofcourse I had a doctor give me a refferal, it just wasn't my primary care doctor. There are companies that have doctors who will write a refferral for blood test if you want it.

So.. you falsified information with an illegal doctor.

Huh? companies? did you have to pay the full fee for an office visit?

I assume he means a lab company keeps a doctor on staff to write referrals for their services.

Quest, Labcorp any any imaging center in my area has no doctor on hand that will order a test, they will only do a test as requested by patients doctor. They do have radiologists that will review the results to forward to the requesting doctor..

This company here www.MyMedLab.com will have one of its doctor issue you a refferal to LabCorp. My test was done by LabCorp. This is perfectly legal.
