Did shipping at TireRack go up for anyone else?

My shipping quotes are all coming in around $53 and up for every set of 4, when I ordered my last pair 1-1.5 years ago shipping was only $28.

Is this just for me or do you guys notice this as well? The higher shipping cost along with the higher tire prices (compared to what it seemed like last time i ordered) is basically making the difference between tirerack and local down to just a few $$ per tire, and for that much I'd just as soon go local.

Shipping for the first set of 225/40/17's that came up was $42.20..seems about in line with what it used to be.

I shipped two tires a little over a month ago. The shipped seemed the same that it did 3 years ago when I bought tires from them.

It's on par for what I have seen. Years ago, it cost me $50 to ship 4 tires. Last year, it cost, well, around $50 again.

As for being cheap, I do not find it much cheaper to go online for tires. Mounting and shipping adds about $70-$100 to the total cost. When you try to price match, they always give you some bull excuse as to why they cannot give you that price because they do not include mounting and you do not have to pay shipping when you buy locally. Also, places now have different mounting prices for tires bought through them and tires bought from a third party.

Has always been around $10 a tire for me. Also more and more cars are coming with larger tires so prices may seem higher to some that get a new car and go from a 14-15" tire to a 16-18" tire.

Try Treaddepot.com and also Tires.com
Tirerack is not the only online dealer for tires.

+1. My 215/45/17's comes to $40.54. Last time I bought it was about $36 so seems about right. I live just out of Chicago so I'm pretty close to South Bend. The difference you see might be due to the distance from the warehouse (LA or GA?). Of course it will be even more if the closest warehouse dosn't have them and they have to ship from another further away.

I priced out Pirelli P6 225/60-16 for my car from them. With shipping and then local install costs, it would have cost me about $40 more than the $622 I just paid at Eurotire in Fairfield, NJ to get and install the same tires.
