Did Rockstar file a patent on open world westerns?

I'm shocked there isn't a single RDR clone on the market. Not one is there? Call of Juarez is good but those aren't the same. You can't just chill and live the western life in those. I just want to rope my cattle, practice around practice shooting birds. What gives, gang? We have a million GTA clones.

I can't look it up now, but I think RDR was so expensive they didn't make much money on it (if at all). I think it scared people away, because of a game as well done and highly rated as RDR can't profit then why bother?
