Mid 40's is what Ewan McGregors char was suppose to be I think. Take 20 years of a hard life hiding out from the empire and by the time you reach mid 60's you could be looking a bit rough.

Not to mention the fact that he basically repped and raised the douchebag responsible for destroying the Jedi order and mercilessly slaughtering untold millions throughout the galaxy. Might wear you down just a wee bit.

Can you imagine the aging of the skin and body that two suns on Tatooine lays down? That and living a life in seclusion, wondering when they're going to find your ass using the Force and kill you once and for all? Yeah....think about that for a second....

This. Remember, this is the same story in which Leia has real memories of her mother in Return of the Jedi but that same mother dies during childbirth during Sith. It's also the story in which Kenobi's greatest student builds a droid that is friends with another droid, Obi Wan himself interacts with for extended periods of time with both of them, and just a nit later in the chronology he can't remember either one. It's the story in which Yoda was Obi Wan's teacher in Empire and QuiGonn was in Phantom. It's the story in which QuiGonn "discovers" how to become a jedi ghost in Sith and Vader, who never had the opportunity to learn that trick, performs it in Jedi. Lucas is a master a revisionist history.

Also the one where people in A New Hope act as though Jedi are a myth. Han Solo doesn't believe in the Force and uncle Owen calls Obi-Wan a crazy old man. But only 20 years prior (when Han was a kid and Owen must have been a young man), the Jedi were apparently common throughout the galaxy and were sort of like the Star Wars equivalent of special forces.

If you're familiar enough with the star wars universe, you would know that there are techniques in the force that help one to control aging, or lack there of. Perhaps he was implying some techniques in his early years, and then simply stopped caring.

Because fanboys think that it has a chance of being as culturally relevant as Star Trek.

That will never happen. The prequels made sure of that. It was iffy before them but now its not even close. ST>SW.

And I was such a huge SW fan, then the ewoks happened in '83 and its been downhill ever since.

OWK did not look so bad in ANH. Just weathered.

You mean there are plot holes in Star Wars?

I don't think the Empire really gave a dick about him. i contend that his only real concern on the desert planet were tusken raiders, obnoxious jawas, and making sure that young skywalker kid didn't stumble into some sarlacc pit or something while out and about scavenging for some power converters.

That brings me to my second point...

lol. :)

I always thought they would bring him back as two individuals--cyborg legs and cyborg top.

As bad as that first movie was in every conceivable way, the worst thing they did was kill off the best villain of the entire prequel disaster, without even developing him.

i agree. i wish they would have not cut him in half. just let him fall and then bringing him back wouldn't be so bad.
