Obama was not saying that voting turns you into a citizen. He's saying that citizens are the ones who vote, and that they have an added incentive to vote if they know friends and family that are illegal immigrants.

Actually it is VERY difficult to process information if it conflicts with your worldview. They even have a term for it, cognitive dissonance. I struggle with it all the time. He spoke of if you, citizen, know people who cannot vote then you should be their voice by casting your vote. Because they cannot.
