did newegg send us the wrong ram?

Check the ram settings in BIOS. It should be set it to 1333.333 MHz(PC3-10600), not 1066MHz (PC3-8500) which could be the default.

No, you have the correct memory. The model numbers match up except for 4GBNT vs. 8GBNT. That's because the kit as a whole is 8GB, but it's really just composed of two 4GB modules. H61 boards default to DDR3 1066, so just go in an manually set the frequency and timings to what they should be.

ok cool, i'll try setting the frequency & timings manually. I was thinking if I set everything to "auto" the mobo should've automatically detect the correct settings. thanks.

DDR3 1066 is PC3 8500, what you mean is DDR3 1333/PC3 10600.
