Did my video card die?

First, the thing is the screen will go black, but everything seems to work fine only i can't see it. I can restart the comp, enter my password blindly, and then hear windows boot up and even a update pop up ive been meaning to turn off.

After cleaning any of the dust out of my computer I set my graphics card down and got busy with something else but when I put everything back together all was fine for about 5 min and the screen would flash on and off and has now stayed off for good. I can't even see the setup screen, etc when my computer first turns on.

I've checked my monitor and have my harddrive in this computer, so does this mean my vidya card died or I can I do something to correct this problem? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I have a 6800 GT agp card. It has been overclocked by the manufacturer and I've had it for as long as the card has been out.

No I can't because the computer I'm on now is PCI-e only.

And I can probably enter safe mode, but I can not see anything at all. It is completely black. But the monitor is getting something from my computer because when its unpluged it brightens up and switches back and forth between digital and analog while it stays on digital when its plugged into video card.

also i can't try out this pci-e card in the problem computer because its an agp only board.

Motherboard: ABIT AV8 powered by VIA K8T800 (im not sure what you mean by version, but i looked my board up and it seems there is only one version and it has the latest driver updates and things for it)

Video card: BFG 6800GT AGP

Thanks for the responses.

Okay, what BIOS revision? What PSU? Any odd things happen before the video card issue started, i.e. lights flickering? verify that the GPU fans are spinning? can you borrow a cheap agp card?

not sure what rev. other than its the latest available and i've been using it for a long while since they haven't come out with a new revision in years i believe.

-the PSU is a 480 watt Enermax Cooler giant

-all fans are spinning fine and hard. They are clean

- the first odd thing to happen was around 10min before the picture went black and it flickered twice and the 3rd time it went off for good it seemed. This happened once more before cutting off for good only that it flickered on and off intermittently for a lot longer before staying off for good.

- no i can't borrow one, but I could possibly order a cheap 30 dollar one(though i rather not if i don't have to)

I never thought of my PSU until you brought it up. I'm going to use this power supply in the problem computer and see what happens while waiting for the next response. Thanks again for replies.

Alright, looks like the PSU is fine after checking it. Also, I noticed that the GPU is getting power from it because I can see fans turning on the GPU and it lights up.

Again, I can hear windows boot up and everything seems to be fine other than i cannot see it. Everything seems fine other than the visuals. I also switched between digital and analog cables and got nothing.

So, is it most likely my videocard? I'm not very knowledgeable about my ram other than how cheap i bought the value ram, but that wouldn't affect the picture would it? What about my motherboard?

Does anyone thing the only thing I can do right now is order another video card? This videocard I have has a lifetime warranty, so I guess my only option is to send it back and order a cheap videocard? the computer I'm on now won't be available to me for the rest of this week and ill guess ill try find the cheapest agp card possible to use while im waiting on the 6800gt in the mail.

I just wish the visuals would work for a moment more so i could run PC wizard.
