Louisss is just revelling in picking on people in his "did you know that" tone.

I was getting BSODs when I had higher overclocks, which I turned down to stock, and had this problem.

Like I said, I have instant replacement on it after they verify my issue. I don't know how you guys can think it's a software issue.
Just because bios reports something doesn't mean it's right, I mean with or without virtualization I'm only seeing(or saaw) 1 physical processor thing in the hardware of device manager

its nice that you're not going to take my advice. then don't reset your cmos, dont restore your defaults and don't reinstall windows. then don't see your cores in windows =)

in respect to the bold, i bet you think software has nothing to do with hardware right?

if you're not going to take my advice that you asked for, then don't do any of the above ;)

wait so you (maybe) broke your processor and am going to replace it cuz you f'ed up with overclocking?

 ....yeah that's what he said but the thing is his 'issue' (if cause by actual hardware failure) was caused by his own doing and breaking the warranty (eg. overclocking); he should not have a replacement. Sadly, people lie and he likely will get one anyway.

Hmm...
I just noticed his IDLE temp's and the fact he's on stock cooling. I'd hate to see what his LOAD temp's were. Now if this turns out to be an hardware issue I would not be surprised if he killed his processor with negligent overclocking (eg. not monitoring temp's, lack of aftermarket heatsink or watercooling setup; for a hobbyist overclocker [as he put] it sure looks like bullshit). If this happens to be the case, I would hope he doesn't get a replacement so he actually learns his lesson with expensive objects.

my god, how the fuck do you go about ripping your $1000 cpu out and giving it to strangers before doing a simple format and reinstall.

how do you explain that?

ignore the intel fanboys. send it back, demand a new one and after they say yes, ask them what kind of
shit 45nm chips are they making.

Attitude check at register 3! You spent an awful lot of money on a system without knowing a thing about it. Good job.

-Your system only has 1 physical processor. This is correct. It's 1 processor with 4 cores.
-A temperature guage is not a useful way to get information about functionality. It's just a thermometer.
-Even friendly, helpful people won't help you too much when you're this much of a prick.

Good day, sir!

Kind of funny how he asks for help, gets good advice, the calls others noobs. I also like how he says he didn't run it out of specs, but in the same post has a screenshot of it at 4+GHz. His idle temps are not much lower then my load temps on my overclocked Phenom.

Dude... just burn a frickin' Linux LiveCD already and get this farce over with. If it can see your four cores, then the problem is solved. If not, problem not solved. Process of elimination? It's time this thread actually went somewhere other than mud-slinging-land.

This thread begs for a parody

"Did I kill the engine in my Ferrari?, didn' have time to change the oil"

"Is my GF mad at me because I havent called in three months?"

+1

Although I assumed this thread was THE parody already. Is anyone here really buying this as anything other than a decent effort to "punk" some AT'ers?

The good thing about the internet is you can bait and then bail, without having to face the music.

guys be nice to the OP.

He bought an expensive chip. He borked his system, and now since he lost the confidence in fixing it, he sent it to a professional.

If i was in his shoes, IE. Lets think of my car. I was playing with my car, messing with something, oh boy now it wont start.

Okey, i can go on the forums and 1. Ask for help, however it might sound difficult. Or hard.

2. i can take it to a mechanic and have it fixed.

The OP tried 1, gave us screenies, asked for help. The first coupleposts no one had any clue. In fact we were so boggled we spat out random stuff until ruby came along.

Now i have an expensive car where no one seems to know WTF is going on. What am i going to do.

Option 2.

Actually... he never said that. He said he returning it for a 'replacement', so either RMA or in-store return.

We offered him advice otherwise, trying new bios, different programs, running memtest, asking about the bsod, etc. Instead he just gave us the finger and said he never asked for advice.

In a way he kinda deserves the flak he's getting in this thread, for returning a product he broke himself and then not wanting to take our advice.

blah... your right i missed it. I read the verified part, but missed the instaswap.

And then everyone went off on him on how he didnt try to trouble shoot but instead sent it off, so i just assumed.

OP, if you overclocked, you voided your warrenty.

Thats the risk in it.

And yes ive lost 3 good chips because i wasnt careful with them, one being a E8400, and another being a uber clocking X2 4400+ <--- that really hurt. :[

I think he overvolted them. Aigo, you killed an E8400 on purpose, right? How long did it last with 1.5V again?

I killed a E2180 :( Clocked to 4GHz too! But that was because I decided to pop off the IHS, and bent the chips PCB in the process :p

I'm back.
And No I didn't overvolt by much;

Aigo why do you let idiots post on my thread? Don't they know that everest, coretemp and other windows-based programs use different formulas to calculate the voltage that's being used/
My voltage was set to the max spec which was 1.3625
If someone thinks 1.38 V is gonna fry an intel chip on the extreme cooler on air is very, very stupid;

Also if you guys can't check your fucking device manager to see that windows sees all 4 cores before you open your mouths then just be quiet.

To JAG87, why don't you be quiet you cheap bhenchod? You heard me you sala ma-de-kusara. You think you're ballin' or something and I'm just posting why I dropped it off, apparently like every other hater dipper you like to not read and jump to conclusions.
I dropped it off at the store I purchased it from because my instant replacement warranty specifies that you MUST get the processor or whatever part that's under warranty examined and then once it's found to be faulty it's instantly replaced.

To the informed, thanks for your help. TO the idiots who have never checked device manager with their quad core and assume only one shows up; please never post here again.
To those who think my temps are "high", again, please shut up. Have you even seen the e8400 postings where it talks about degradation temperatures over time?: You realize how high I'd need to run right, and you'd also know that it wasn't my stable clock, I was running at different speeds I was testing my ram...

My qx9650 is retail box, it will be replaced if it's found faulty.
Meanwhile I'm trying to find another spare quad laying around so I can show you conclusion-jumping-idiots that have posted here that they actually show up as 4 cores in windows; regardless of there being 4 physical cores or not.
Don't try spewing electrical engineering stuff to me, I know it pretty well since it's my secondary major to Engineering Physics.

Sorry for sounding rude but I'm sick of these threadcrappers who envy my computer because my RAM costs as much as their box.
Seriously go learn something then come and troll my thread./

I wasn't avoiding anything, I was at an REM Concert yesterday and the day before I was packign for Vancouver.

I'll be here, keep em coming.

You should know better by now dude. This is your second vacation for personal attacks. I'd thought you'd learn the first time. See you in a week.

hey i think i speak for all of us when i say stfu.
none of us are threadcrapping.
this isn't YOUR thread and theres no rule that says who can and cannot post in it.
its obvious you know anything and everything about your CPU and all other CPUs so why are you here asking for help? lol...
so u overvolted out of the Intel Spec of 1.36 to 1.38?

keep em coming i like this thread =)

oh, and so i can contribute a little to your thread, i still think your cpu might be broke cuz u messed up with overclocking and/or need a reformat and reinstall. have you done that yet?
have you run 24hours of memtest86+ v2.01 on each stick of ram yet?
