My 1.5 yr old son had the flu yesterday and wound up dehydrated, so he was admitted to the hospital this afternoon. My wife was there with him and I was home with the other two kids.
We were loading up the van to go see how things were going, when I noticed a little girl, maybe 10 or 11, laying on the ground about a half block down the street. I raced the van down there, and jumped out to see if she was OK.
She was sobbing and in some hella bad pain. The wiped out on her bike, hit a fire hydrant and broke her arm just above her wrist. As I was trying to figure out who her parents were, her older brother runs up to help. At this point is when I noticed how bad her arm was. About 3 inches up from her wrist, her arm was swollen about 3x the size it should have been.
To make the story more interesting, her brother didn't speak english. I asked "home, or hospital" and he replied "hospital". How convienient!!!! We were already heading there!! So we loaded her in the van and got on our way. The poor girl was howling everytime we'd hit a bump or slow down for a stop sign.
We finally got to the hospital and got her admitted to the ER. By this time, about 6 or so of her family members are there, all very grateful. What a nice feeling on an otherwise bad day.
cliffs notes:
saw little girl who wiped out on her bike, broke her arm
gave her and her brother a ride to the hospital
got a warm fuzzy feeling from her grateful family
