Did my buddy get hosed?

ATI built, box says 9250. Card however, says 9200 LX on the label. Is that right? I can't find anything online about a 9200 LX....it does have the right amount of memory (256mb).

Does it matter..? I'm sure whatever kind of Radeon 92xx the card is it's pretty much useless for gaming anyway, 256MB or not...

Exactly my sentiments. Both cards suck and are totally inadequate for gaming, and perfectly good for dual display windows setups. So if he wants a solid video card for his PC general daily usage he got a great card; if he wants to game then why the heck was he looking at a Radeon 92xx series card in the first place?

If what you get on ebay is not what is advertised on the listing, you have to first communicate your concern with the seller.

If he is not willing to work it out with you (partial refund), you can file a claim with paypal and very likely, you will win.

But, if there is nothing in the original listing that confirms the discrepancy, you will be out of luck. That is why you should ask questions and make sure you have covered all bases before you bid if you want to buy something on ebay.

The "LX" is some non-ATI name, and GPU Review never had one entered in its database. Here is the cheap 9250 vs. the standard 9200:

Neither one can do Dx9, of course. {Well, heck, it is the buddy who may have "gotten hosed", so this next is a bit out of sync after all, sorry.} Also, I (thought I was) surprised that a member of AT who has been around the place enough to write so many messages didn't (seem to know, my bad) the story about VRAM and memory bandwidth vs. speed, that anything beyond 128 MB's of RAM on a 128 Bit VGA is wasted if it's gaming (that the buddy) want(s) to do. Only for something like photo editing will (your buddy) be going slow enough to use more than 128 MB's.

In the GPU Review matchup, I plugged in a cheapie 9250, because those are what are being sold most, because they are cheaper. For it, the limit might be just 64 MB's of RAM while doing gaming.
