Did microsoft forget to pay off walmart or something?

I think this will appeal to techies more than your average consumer. Having a "normal" consumer do a clean install of an OS is probably not the smartest idea. Imagine the tech-support headaches.

The author hit the nail on the head with the comment that this would appeal to those who regularly pirate versions of Windows, not that I'd know anything about that... That Duron 1 Ghz looks good for $400. Could probably get it cheaper if you build it, but if it comes with a warranty, it might be worth it to not have to deal with the family member that is having problems with the computer you set them up with.

Trident 8mb sshared video memory on the duron. No agp slot. Now if they would give better options, they'd really have a hot seller. Thru various upgrades, I have several os's at my disposal.
 
How can this possibly happen? There are so many morons screaming that Microsoft is a monopoly and that you have no other options out there.
