Did Metroid Prime remind anyone else a little bit of Wind Waker?

I've only played the beginning of Metroid so far, but you start out in a forest that looks similar to the Forest Haven in Wind Waker, then you proceed to a fiery dungeon that looks like Dragon Roost Island.

In both games:
When you come back through areas you've already been through, enemies come back.
When you enter a new area, the camera pans around and gives you an overview of the map.
The boss fights have similar cinematics at the end.
You have to battle a giant mutated plant.
The wasps in Metroid are reminiscent of the helicopter things in Wind Waker

Am I crazy or do the games seem to have something in common?

Yeah, they have Nintendo in common, ass! 😀

I never noticed it that way, but both games have a history of returning enemies when returning to areas, that's the way those two games have always been. Other than that, I can recall that both games have always also had similar "bosses" to fight. Super Metroid had a large plant you had to fight too, as do many games in the genre.

I never really played any of the old metroid games.

BLASHPHEMER!!!!

You've not lived until you've played the first three: Metroid (NES), Metroid 2 (B/W Gameboy), Super Metroid (SNES and still one of the best). The last two for GBA were alright I guess, but Metroid Prime is most like the SNES Metroid in most respects.

I'll put it this way, and some people may not like this, but with no Samus Aran, there likely would NOT be a Master Chief.
