Did Intel mock up dual Pentium 4 demo?

"Insight 64 believes AMD may have a technology advantage over the next six quarters if AMD continues the smooth execution that has marked its recent operations".

oh yes

hm...do you guys think intel will make a dual-cored celeron processor? it could still be really crappy, but it would sure help them in marketing...that's if it's still not that expensive to manufacture. any average joe would go, "dude, that's dual core! it must be really good!"

I read a review about a dual cored 1U server system they were testing that was going to REQUIRE a peltier to run and use about 150 watts!!

Who is going to risk this kind of heat in a 1U? The 2.8 Pentium 4 1U I'm working on is actually a lot louder than a car engine running. I can't imagine if it's thermal output was doubled...

Wow what scaving article.....

Maybe we should get Dan Rather to tackle this!!! LOL as if I really care but this is the lamest thing I have seen in awhile. What proof does this nathan have?? Nothing. He didn't see it, he didn't get to inspect it, he bases this on silly things of intel not" trumpting this feat" more and can't seem to get past the idea the platform used to test it could easily have been very advanced as well....

Whether Intel has it or not, I don't know. I would think if they tested it now and it was working so well we would see it as sson as possible to beat AMD to the market and gain back some glory that has been lacking for the last year from intel....However I don't assume and I surely don't leap to terrible conclusions with such flimsy evidence....

Amd fans please don't let you hate for Intel make you believe every conspiracy story....

Well yes, but wouldn't a dual-cored celeron be "twice as crappy" in essence? Having a single celeron is bad enough...now people want two. Basically my point is that it would theoretically have double the performance delta that currently exists between the P4 and the Celeron.

Based on intel's (and AMD's) history, I would say there will definately be a dual-cored celeron in the future. They have to do *something* with their defective chips.

Dual core ain't my thing so I don't care. I think it will kill overclcoking and any value in the market.

i think dual-core is pretty cool, but it's a desperate attempt between amd and intel to just get new things out. and because of that, they can take advantage of the consumers into thinking it's twice the performance or etc. in reality, dual-core is just like dual cpu's. it doesnt add up and make it double the performance. the cpu doesnt process "faster", just "better".

Overclocking remains to be seen. For my use, I'm confident that dual-core will give me a massive boost in my applications. Anyone else that does 3D rendering will also benefit greatly.

The fact that intel, AMD, and IBM have *all* gone the dual-core route is very telling.

That's not true. You're talking about two cores on a single chip versus two discreet processors. The dual-cored single chip will perform much faster than two chips in SMP AFAIK.

I wouldn?t be surprised, AMD has had dual core on their roadmaps for a good long while, while Intel still stuck In Ghz land were planning tejas/Nehalem ( 10.25Ghz Nehalem was due for Q2 2005) Intels dual core seems pretty rushed, they sent out a paper on dual core potential back in 89 but they never followed it up.

Intel Following AMD

1. Numbering Scheme.
2. 64-bit extensions
3. Dual Core
4. NX Security
5. ?Mhz don?t matter? ( AMD said this in 01 and I am sure they were planning on it well before that)

Sure there?s more in the last 12 months, and I am willing to agree that AMD in early days basicly just cloned Intel CPU?S, but now AMD can stand on own two feet, with a little help from IBM. You can call it fanboy talk however Intel don?t have a faster chip out with a lower price which doesn?t suit my needs.

Follow the God that failed.

Dont get me wrong, If Intel started selling 3.7 EE'S due out in a month @ say 200 I would get one, I am not blind sighted by Hector's company, but theres a Loyalty there.
