just finished watching it and it was definitely mediocre at best
really? he won the money? they get back together? the brother says sorry? wow awesome
love that symbolize of the money bath at the end. so deep.

No Country for Old Men and Crash were definitely twice as good, I guess 2008 sucks (haven't seen the Departed)
looking at past best pictures, this might be the worst except for the couple I didnt see and Million Dollar Baby (which sucked)

maybe I need to watch it again? haha

The plot is cliche but watching the stories is what's interesting. Good directing/editing/music. This wasn't suppose to be some revolutionary plot

no shit.

Inappropriate amounts of fail to start out this thread. insane.

although, Slumdog was good, but not much more. really didn't deserve any sort of nod over The Wrestler and Wall *E (neither of which were even nominated...and I don't generally care for animated flicks, either.)

So many movies better than Slumdog this year. ridiculous.

didn't get The Departed?

WTF.... :guntohead;

The Departed was just about the most emotionally wrenching movie I've ever seen. I wanted to kill Matt Damon from the very beginning of it.

you know, the departed is actually a remake of a HK film.

Although The Departed is good, it's not as good as Infernal Affairs.

Thanks for the spoilers asshole

Heh all you really know is he won the money.... since you shouldn't have kept reading after that... go watch it. I didn't like it that much either.

What a profound review. I thank you for correcting the masses who are obviously ignorant.

And it's really easy to distill any movie into a few themes and call is silly.

No Country for Old Men:

Crazy guy, kills people, really? Wow awesome.

it was a good movie but i agree with you, it was nothing special at all.

no clue why it got all the hype.

the chick in the movie is beautiful though.

A predictable plot is not a fault if it is executed well. A movie need not have a million plot twists (and this hurts some movies rather than helps) or an "original" ending to be good.
Slumdog Millionaire was a good movie.

I agree. Can anyone actually think of a movie that has a completely original plot? These silly criticisms get old.

"It's overhyped"
"Cliche"

always the same, as trite as the criticisms themselves. If you distill a movie down into a few plots like the OP has done, what movie is original?
