Did I unlock my chip???

I just unlocked my xp1900 on an abit kr7a mobo. when i go into softmenu the highest i can get is 12.5/13 and then "13 and higher". is that as high as i can go? is it really unlocked?

Why not just bump the fsb and change the multiplier as necessary? It'd be more effective, and you'd never need anything higher than 12x.
 
yes, you really unlocked it. if you can change the multiplier at all, it is unlocked. the reason why you can only go as high as 13 is because your motherboard's bios does not allow you to select a higher multiplier.

Ok, I never unlocked my XP 1900+ (retail) and I can change the multiplier in the BIOS. I get the same max setting as him. I am using a MSI K7T266 Pro2 Motherboard. When I had my XP 1700+ (OEM) I could not change the multiplier in the BIOS. It wasn't even selectable. With the 1900+ Retail I can change it. Any ideas why this is?
 
it's simple.......leave it on 133fsb and change multiplier........then boot if it says more than 1900 then yeah, it is unlocked. i don't know about 1900 and up, but i know that for like the 1700, etc........the only way to go past 12.5 multiplier was to connect another set of bridges....i forgot which but yeah. uhmm basically if it says anything diff than 1900 on a 133fsb then it is unlocked. simply changing the multiplier in the bios, as someone said, doesn't mean anything unless it actually does something 🙂

The CPU itself is probably ignoring the changed multiplier settings. Check CPUID to see if it actually worked. If it does work, then you've somehow been buying Athlon MPs...
