It was prolly some little kid.... and yes, you overreacted.

I highly doubt the laser could stay in your eye long enough (as you are driving) to do any damage at all. Even if it startled you, it's nothing worse than a cat or something running accross the street.

It's nothing like a cat running accross the street. This is a human doing something deliberate. Humans, unlike animals, have the ability(and requirement) to take responsibility for their actions. What if some little kid was running accross the street for some reason, guy gets laser pointer in the eye, startles him enough to take his eye off the road.. bam.. kid dead.. No big deal? I think calling the cops was a fantastic idea.

If I were you, I would have driven my car straight into the window of the little fvcktard doing it and then blamed it on him/her.

Well, if he's that young that he doesn't know the difference between right, and wrong, then perhaps his parents should be keeping a closer eye on him.. rather than letting him play outside by himself.. But where does a kid that young get a laser pointer anyway?

The last time I had a laser, I was shining it at some Russian guys and they actually ran, like KGB-style.

Fact of the matter is that if a child is not old enough for itself to be responsible, then responsbility falls on the parents. Simply put, this should not have happened, it is nothing to just look over, and it should be corrected.

and how do u supposed that can happen. So let say he calls the cops and files the complain and even tells the cop the house he thinks the boy is from. Cops send a unit and ask the parents if a little boy lives,
parents responde by saying yes. Is there anytying we can help you office.
Officer we got a report that some little boy was blinding motorist with laser, my son don't own no lazer is their anything else we can help you officer.
yes, can i talk to the boy, i am sorry but if you have any other question please direct them to my attorney here is his bussiness card.

Unless the officer have any other prove he can't do much about the incident.

P.S i doubt that any motirist that got blinded by a laser can tell cops the disction of the person or what house he is from as he would be doing it from the street.

I never said anything about the success of an officer trying to arrest/fine someone for it. In fact, Heisenberg didn't even file a complaint and he just hoped the officer would say something, which, in my opinoin, is better than nothing. My point isn't the legality or police enforcement of the situation, it's that this shouldn't be happening, it's dangerous. Someone DOES have a responsibility to see to it that one is not jeopardizing the safety of another intentionally in such a way. Wether that responsibility falls on the person in question, or the parent isn't an issue.

EDIT: Took out all the quoting.

True but you left out the part where the parents thrash the stupid kid for being an idiot and hopefully he learns his lesson from this.

what about the parent that then sticks up for the fuxored kid? That happens all the time now.

There was about 60 kids/parents pounding on a jewelry store window next to a theatre here to set the alarm off. When police came some parents claimed to be attorneys and stated it was there right to be there and actually argued about pounding on the glass did not cause damage to property. Supposedly once police discussed the financial damages to having officers respond, they dispersed.

I can't even imagine this scene...but it happened a couple weeks ago right here.
