Why all the hostility towards THG? I find it a wealth of useful information, especially with the multitude and variation of all their articles and reviews. AT does not update nearly as often as THG does. What am I missing here?

There have been some fiascos in the past with rigged review results, and stuff. Plus, this latest MML2 stuff doesen't help. Bunch of assholes over there.

Every once in a while the tone turns into "we are the end all be all hardware site and you'd better not forget it". They can go fvck themselves.

Look at the "THG Kills Lawyer" news item on the main page (July 1 section).

People assume the "web exclusive" story is true simply because they diislike THG, but THG's version of events is more convincing to me until I see some real evidence to the contrary.

their reviews are disappointingly biased at times, and they have a really really bad attitude towards the rest of the community. fsck em.

THG is teh suck! They are giving advice like getting a contractor to wire your home with CAT5! What bullshit!!! Unless you have a REALLY weird home, it's cheaper and easier to do it yourself - especially if you have a crawlspace or basement or full attic.

</rant>

And just to think I used to like THG

People have a problem with THG because THG has a problem w/Intel. I forget the specific article, but THG got a letter from intel a while ago that said since THG made a bad article about the P4 they wouldn't be getting the standard chip's that they send out to every other HW review site. THG had a nasty editorial at the time that said they'd be pro-AMD until the end of time. So now everyone (myself included) assumed THG is pro-AMD and is writing reviews with an obvious bias.

I haven't read THG since then.

I remember them producing proAMD articles, but that was when AMD was the performance choice and king. Since the P4B and recently the P4C were released, they have been shifting more towars Intel.

Interesting rumor, but the THG article on 800 FSB P4's shows the P4's beating the AMD XPs into the ground in gaming, with a 2.4C sometimes beating a 3000+: don't click me I link to THG!

Tom may be an arrogant jerk, and they did fake that one CPU sticker by photochopping, but there is still a lot of useful content on the site if you take it with a grain of salt.

They did a lot more than photochop a sticker the last few times I read the site (and I miss it... THG was one of the main sites that got me into computer building/repair/and actually looking at the innards of technology through their MB and other guides)

That's fine either way though, but there are still more than enough HW review sites that once one shows a bias one way, I find the rest of their articles to be not as respectable as the ones beforehand... especially not after a blatent editorial saying they will go one way from then on. It's no secret that the 800Mhz bus w/the P4 is pwning AMD right now. Even THG wouldn't be able to put a good enough spin on it to be believeable that AMD is in the lead. But I still can't bring myself to look at the site after their 4 months (that I was still reading the site, could be more) of blatent AMD ass kissing and Intel bashing, even when the comparable processors were neck and neck, within 1% of each other. THG made it seem as if AMD's were twice as fast as Intels at the time, and that anyone buying an Intel processor was the biggest idiot on the face of the planet.

I still refuse and will continue to refuse to read THG.
