Agreed, if u guys have forgotten the lil brass pins u screw in to the base of the board and then screw ur board into them, the reason they are there? yes correct, they dont carry charge, so even if u discharged static on ur case u still wouldnt blow summin like a MOSFET or anything in fact provided u did screw those lil brass screws in. So if u forget to do that or if the mobo is in direct contact with the case, then sorry but u firstly shouldnt be working with pcs, and secondly esp while its on...
 
once again, agreed. Working on a PC while its running is really nto a brilliant move unless its something your willing to lose. The bravest thing I did to any of my PCs while on was plugging one-two fans in when everything was on my bench table spread out, to avoid contact. Working in a case while on is really just asking for it.
 
What Ed said. Static electricity generally doesn't harm anything that's on.

And you must NEVER ground yourself while working on something that's on. That's asking for serious injury, or worse.
