Did I harm my Core 2 Duo

Just wondering if this would harm the CPU in any sort of way.

I was installing the chip to a Dell Dimension computer which currently has a Pentium D until i figured out that the dell motherboard doesn't support 45nm because I booted it up but the monitors didn't show anything.

The BIOS for the board probably doesn't have any support for the chip. Should have checked it out before you bought it.

It's not going to harm it.. yeah like A5 said it probably just isn't supported. You might be able to find a firmware update but chances are you'll have to sell it or get a new motherboard.

What exact model is the Dell?
