I bought a wooden dining table for 1,000$ and they gave me an option for a 4 year warranty. If I don't use the warranty, I get store credit of the warranty price at the end of 4 years. The warranty is 130$. Good deal or was I suckered?

Warranty for the dining table? Doesn't seem right toward me but I always have bought my takes tables second hand that were built well. Seems only a crappy table would need a warranty.

Even cheap furniture like the Ikea stuff seems to hold up well. I dunno, extra warranties in general are a scam. Only time I would consider it is if I was buying some used/refurbished, and even then I'd take my chances.

How many times in your life have you wished you had ever purchased a furniture warranty in the past?

Once, for the dinning table being replaced. I left some cold meat on the wood finish and it ruined. Sometimes I look at that damages caused in the past two years to the dining table and feel that it's helpless. I've only had the old table for 2 years and it's already damaged. So maybe I should keep this warranty?

does the warranty cover damage that YOU cause, including through gross negligence?

or does it only cover manufacturer defects?

and don't go by what the sales rep claimed, what does the warranty text actually say?

Why didn't you just refinish it then? How can cold meat left for the little while ruin a finish so bad?

http://ashley-furniture.pissedconsu...the-sales-people-tell-you-20101105205833.html

We bought a leather couch from Ashley furniture a year or so ago.We were convinced to get the warranty.

We paid over 100$ dollars for the warranty. The other day we noticed a stain on the couch. It is down between the arm rest and the cushion so we did not notice it right away. We thought no big deal because we have a warranty.

Well my wife call the place and they tell us since it had been more than 2 days and we were not sure what caused the stain we were not covered. We argued the point to no avail.

So when one of their sales people tells you it will cover anything but, this is her words,"jaws and claws", do NOT believe them.It actually covers very little and definitely is not worth the money.

Ashley Furniture has lost a customer and should be ashamed of how they treat their customers.

I hate Ashley furnite store! They lie to you soooooo much just for you to purchase their cheap furniture, and when you call for repairs nothing is covered! This is just BS! Never again purchasing from this company! Bunch of liars!!!!!!

They screwed me too! Won't honor their warranty. Glad to see I'm not alone! LOL
I will never spend another cent with this shady company. This kind of customer service puts big companies out of business all the time. Good Luck Ashley Furniture!

My 1 year old got a hold of his diaper cream and played with it, all over my sectional. Tried to clean it all with the cleaner they give you when purchased. The cream never came out, so I called Ashley furniture warrenty...
They said...
"they do not cover CORROSIVE material."
I said...
"I do not put CORROSIVE material on my baby's bottom."
yes, you heard that right, their excuse for not covering me, was cause diaper cream and hand lotions are CORROSIVE.

I purchased both my dining room and living room set from Ashley approximately a year and a half ago. Upon purchasing the furniture I opted for the extended warranty through Guardsman Elite for the five years after the purchase. The sales representative assured me that this covers everything and that all I would need was to call the extended warranty company and a representative would come out to repair the problem or it would be replaced. Sounded like a great idea to protect the small fortune I was about to spend.

Two days ago, I called Ashley Furniture in regards to a piece the was broken off of my daughters bed that I had purchased 4 months ago in which the repair is to be covered under the 1 year purchase warranty. I figured that since they were coming out to make the repair that they would be able to fix the other issues that I had with other furniture that I had purchased a year and a half ago and wanted information on how to go about it. When I told her that the problem was with the new dining table being wobbly and unstable and that one of the dining chairs was in the same condition, she told me that it would not be covered under the extended warranty and that I would need to make the necessary repairs on my own because it was just wear and tear. So wait, this means I have to repair something that I paid several hundreds of dollars on a year and half ago because of wear and tear on a product that was sold to me that clearly lacks durability when I was assured that problems like this would be covered under the extended warranty that I purchased at an additional cost? Sounds like a ripoff to me!

I feel that I was scammed by Ashley Furniture and by Guardsman Elite extended warranty company under FALSE PRETENSES that if ANY issues arose as far as any damages, spills, manufacture defects, if the item is broken, ect that it would be covered. Well I am sitting here with a BROKEN wobbly table and chair and no one will be coming out to fix them.

I told the representative that the warranty is a complete waste of money because I was unaware of the extended warranty repair conditions and if I did I would have never purchased it in the first place. I demanded a refund on all of the extended warranty costs that I had paid on ALL 3 sets of furniture I had purchased over the last year and a half. She told me that she would forward this on to the correct department for REVIEW to see if they would grant me this request and went on to tell me that they do not refund in certain states. Really? They need to review my demand for a refund on a product or service that I paid for that was sold to me UNDER FALSE PRETENSES?!?! Unbelievable!!!

If you are seriously considering a class action lawsuit, you can definitely count me in!

According to the lady, it covers negligence such as water damage like I mentioned earlier. If they can't fix it, they replace it.

So I took the warranty paper out and it says that Food, Beverage, heat marks, fading, accidental dmg from finger nail polish, water or house hold beverage marks, and etc etc etc are covered under the wood section.

Tynopik posted some useful information on the warranty, thanks. lol. Okay it doesnt seem like they honor their warranty. I'll return it.

I hope they don't give me much trouble when I try to return the warranty. I don't even have the table yet since it's set for next week delivery. I could always threat to use a chargeback? Hope it works.

Warranties are only good for electronics and cars.

Those Best Buy warranties that they push on you? My buddy bought it for his TV. It was like an extra $100 or something for 3 year coverage. 3 years later, his TV malfunctioned. They just gave him the full price he paid for it and he got a new TV.
