Allright, had the front rotors and brake pads replaced today by some local shop. The shop told me the pads are made in Germany, not the geniune Honda parts...he said he doesn't put Sh#t in the car, and I tend to believe him. The total comes out to be $210, is that a resonable price? Btw, I have a 98 Honda Accord V6....he also mentioned something like I should have my rear brake pads replaced too...mmm...

That's about right to have someone else do it for you... Is labor is most of the cost? Rotors are ~$30 a piece, pads are ~$20/pair. Add more to each if you had a local shop do it.

Well, I am sure he lied somewhere....he said the parts cost $170, the labor costs $40.....so....I don't know...I just thought the total price he charged isn't all that unfair...

Yeah, get a boyfriend that turns wrenches, and you can get stuff like that done for FREE!

(well sorta for free anyway) ;)

LOL!

Yeah, I would have done it for the cost of parts, a beer, and a BJ. ;)

looks about average for a shop to do for you
don't know about the 170 in parts though...
jsut priced them and i could get them for 27.00 a rotor and the pads would have been 24.00 for the set.
so 78.00 for the parts.
figure an hour to replace everything, so 49.00 in labor
so roughly 127.00 in parts and labor plus 12.57 tax
for a grand total of 139.57
but this would have been for me to do it.
don't know what kind of mark-up the shop you went to has on their parts, or what they charge for labor.

Probably...I'm thinking that for that much $ you could have gotten drilled rotors for an Accord. Keep in mind I'm not saying you need them...

And, just because the brake pads are German doesn't mean they're good. For a great example of this, look at Volkswagens! :Q;)

It sounds about right. I didn't look up the price for parts because I don't know what he used. Shop labor where I live is $70 per hour.
I just had the fronts done on my motorhome and he only needed to turn the rotors. It came to $205
