NO NO NO you all have it wrong. God is evil. Read the Bible with a more open mind, and you'll realize he did more evil than Lucifer ever did.

thraashman, i take it you dont like/believe in God? He did 'mean' sorta stuff to the 'mean' sorta people. He wasn't evil. The Catholic Church is Evil. PM me if you want more info, I wont turn this thread into a flamefest.

At least we can debate this...thats one thing the Church hasn't banned yet.

The potential for evil exists with Free Will.

What I think is that God knows a mans heart. He knows how he will react to any situation with his heart, but he also knows that his heart can be changed. There are an infinite number of ways a situation can turn out, and God knows all of these, and he knows which is more likely with each person, but there is still the possibility of that persons heart undergoing a change, and him following a different path.

Thats how I think about free will and all that jazz.

And God did not CREATE evil, God knew of the POTENTIAL for evil, but evil is more of an abstract notion than a solid idea. It cannot be created, and it will always be there so long as there is free will. More of a by-product that can come about by no other means.

didnt he create the devil?
>>

yes he did

i dotn know, i was just thinking and thought I would reply, it isnt the best and most intelligent response, but it was something. maybe it wasnt his intention that the devil would create evil? or this is all a test, a test to see if we can overcome evil or what? i dunno

danny~!

God created us, with free will. Dose that mean he created evil? No. Dose that mean he created us with the potential for commiting evil, yes. But since we are beings with free will the responsibility for evil/sin in our lives is our own. I think allot of people think that since we can choose evil we are therefore doomed from the start and cursed by God. This is not true, though we are born into sin, the same choice that got us in this mess can accept the get-out-o-jail card that is handed to us by His son Jesus. Of course that card carries some resposibility with it, but thats a whole 'nother thread....

But didn't God create all of existence? If that is the case, then he had to also create the potential for evil.

Interesting question, though it does not necessarily interfere with any religious beliefs. A benevolent God could still have created the potential for evil, if his primary motive was to allow creation to choose good. Which would please a Creator the most: watching a biological "machine" carry out its predescribed tasks (assuming there is no evil, or absence of good, there would be no 'acheivements of creation to please the Creator), or allowing it to choose between "evil" (the opposite of what the Creator wishes for us) or what makes the Creator happiest?

In my [admittedly limited] studies of religion, one of the main beliefs has always been Man's choice to avoid evil and do good. That does not conflict at all with the belief that a benevolent God created evil, since his intentions are for us to choose to do good.

Yes reitz, but despite the possibility for man to do good, God knew that evil was going to come about, didn't He? If so, why did he create man in the first place?

You want to back this sh!t up, or are you just doing a "bash N run"?

<< God did not create evil. God created his angles and he created man. Lucifer decided he wanted to be as powerfull as God. Because of this Lucifer was kicked from heaven and sent to live in Hell. Lucifer decived man and man chose to follow him. Therefore God created man with the chance to folloq him or to sin and he sined bringing all the curses of evil upon himself. >>

ok So the next logical question is did god create Hell? or did Lucifer?
