Did Gmail stop giving out invites?

I've not had an invite appear in my account since the first wave stopped a few months ago. Hopefully, they will start appearing again.

I've heard before that the more active users were receiving the most invites, but I don't know if that's true or not.
 
If anyone has any extras please LMK, looking to get one for my mom and a friend.....

I already have one, but ive yet to get any invites myself....
 
I wonder if they're only giving invites to active accounts.

my friend got 1 invite after he signed up, which he gave to me, but never uses the account for anything. since then, he hasn't gotten any more invites.

meanwhile, I've already migrated most of my e-mail communications to my gmail account, and I've gotten serveral invites since signing up.
