Did Frys go out of business?

It's not just you! http://frys.com looks down from here.

Did Frys go out of business?

A friend wanted to go shopping for a TV and I recommended Frys but the website doesn't even resolve.

Edit: The site is up now. Called local store and they said they plan on being around.

The two Frys near me have gotten emptier & emptier over the past several years. They probably have less than 2 years of life left before they follow circuit city & compusa to the great beyond.

Ah, I fondly remember going on "Fry's runs" in college, circa 2000. But their days are numbered. You can find cheap parts online often with no sales tax and free shipping.

?

Do we have a different definition of "resolve"?

The website is inaccessible to some. It'll probably be up again shortly. Shit happens from time to time.

That link resolves to a different ip address than my home computer does, maybe they changed hosts and just needs time for the dns updates to propagate to all the dns servers.

They have been selling stuff at half price, looks that they were getting ready to close out, I am not surprises. Reminds me of CompUSA

Down for Comcast. I will try a different head end and see if can connect.

Don't worry, Frys ain't gone. They just have anandtech personnel working on their site, should be back up in the next week or so.

They probably got so busy they took their website offline because they couldn't answer the phones fast enough. Oh wait, they hardly ever answer the phones anyway, and hang up on you when they do, so that can't be the reason.

And their website was working last night, but it's barely loading today.

And I noticed they had a lot of DVDs and Blu-rays at 50¢ and up last night. But most were in store only where available, or $2.99 shipping each, making them not so great a deal.

It's working but it's very, very slow now.

Maybe Fry's should pay Time Warner an extortion fe.....er...for a faster pipe? :hmm:

I imagine Fry's is slowly going the way of other brick-n-mortar electronics retailers.

I imagine Fry's is slowly going the way of other brick-n-mortar electronics retailers.

The irony is that Fry's bought one of the original online only retailers, Outpost.com located in Wilmington, OH, and it still didn't help them as they didn't expand on it enough to compete with the growing big boys.

There's three of them around me. One of them was just updated their interior and had a visit from what appeared to be Corporate last week.

I used to be at least a once a month customer. Eventually got sick of every thing being an open box return that was marked down an amazing 5% off retail despite looking like someone backed over it.
