That's the thing with the men's 100m in '88 as well with Ben Johnson. He easily won that race, then got stripped of the gold for using steroids. Years later he said something like: "Yeah, I used steroids for that race, but then again so did everyone else. I was the only one caught."
Wow, I can't believe you brought that up. I thought I was the only one that remembered that race. I remember noticing him (Ben Johnson) at the starting line and saying to myself "man, that guy is huge! No way does he have a shot at winning the race. He's too heavy." Then he proceeded to pwn the fastest man in the world (Carl Lewis). I remember it like it was yesterday. Ben was rumored to be doing reps on squats with 600lbs. Crazy! I don't know many weight lifters (personally) that could do 600lbs reps on squats, let alone a sprinter.

I remember that race too, i thought it was great when brute force actually won.

Carl Lewis was so tiny next to him.

I laugh when ever people bring up professional athletes and drugs. You would be hard pressed to find any athlete from any sport except golf maybe where at one point or time they didn't take some questionable supplement or drug to improve their performance.

I think when the truth comes out about golf that's going to surprise a lot of people too. Supposedly beta blockers have been very popular in the upper levels of golf for a long time.

golf isn't a real sport, so no one cares

Translated that means you tried it and sucked at it. Your ineptitude and quitting in the face of a challenge are a personal problem, so spare us your whining.

Back in the the early days stimulants were used and steroids became drugs of use since the 40's and 50's. They have all done it. As a matter of fact some the greatest players in many respective sports used some type of drugs. Hell Mike Schimdt, probably the best 3rd baseman of all time used stimulants. But back then they weren't banned and also back then there was no testing. The pounding professional athletes take is beyond what is normal. It is stupid of people to think they don't need the help of science to help them. Steroids are not going to take a nobody and make them Barry Bonds. They haven't made a drug like that yet. And when they do parents will feed it to their children like candy.

Take the worst performer in any performance sport and feed him Masteron, Deca and maybe something more exotic such as Parabolan and you'll build yourself a performer beyond what any man can do without that, of course he will have to train hard, that is what the steroids do, they allow you to train more often and harder.

I don't really care or know anything about baseball though so your ramblings regarding that which i suppose was to fool the reader that you knew anything about steroids, are not things i am going to spend time arguing about.

I know nothing about roids, huh? First off Parabolan is not exotic . Next time you google the internet to throw out some words like you actually know something, read up on it first. Second of all if what you said was true, why is it that many of the failed drug tests for steroids in baseball are from long time minor league players. So much for your building a performer, lol. hehehehehehehe What a crock :D

Does anyone actually care if these athletes use performance enhancing drugs? If they want to take the risk of doing damage to their bodies or even dying to break a record or win a game thats fine by me. And to all those kids that want to follow in their footsteps or look up to them - fine by me, as long as they know what they're risking.

Maybe major leaguers have the resources (money) to invest in substances that are harder to detect. Hell, look at Marion Jones she only once failed a test (for EPO no less) yet has recently admitted to taking both the cream and the clear.

I admit I know very little about performance enhancing drugs, but I do know a lot about baseball. You can't make the arguement that performance enhancing drugs don't make a difference. Obviously the talent has to be there to hit the ball. Hand-eye coordination, timing, reflexes, and to some extent technique are god-given talents; but bat speed is a critical factor in hitting a ball and doing it successfully.

Higher bat speed means more time to react to the ball and more power not just when you make solid contact, but also when you're fooled. Weak bloop shots turn into gappers, opposite field fly balls turn into homers.
