I said fudge it, The appeal of a 154 dollar 3800+ X2 upgrade from a plain ol newcastle 3500+ was to great.

So that will let me see how this all pans out. Save up my money, build this X2 into a pVR when the Conroe dust settles :)

I was looking at $800 min to upgrade to the e6600, maybe next year.

Im content.

Not yet.

No C2Ds in Canada for a while still, & i don't have time to rebuild a system now anyway. Not to mention i detest the selection & pricing for C2D mobos.

I'll be upgrading in early fall likely.

My computers do not make me money based off a "time is money" performance factor, and I'm a casual gamer. I'm also tired of wasting money on quickly depreciating hardware, when I can make that same couple grand here and there, appreciate. Consequently, I have deemed what I want as subordinate to what I need.

So my answer is, No, I did not get what I want :p

Well said. I just ranted in video about getting burned from a ATI mail in rebate offer and I'm in the same frame of mind. Maybe I'll upgrade in 2008 or so...

No, I haven't gotten what I wanted yet. I'm still waiting for an X2 3600+ or an E4200/4300.

Very much so for now anyway. Got x2 3800+ from ZZF for $156 (hasn't shipped as of this writing). Finally I'm going for dual core to future-proof Vista down the pipe.
