Did California really need to fund housing for farmworkers?

A lot of laborers die at the age of 50 or just a little older. I use to work in a Brass Casting plant, and most of the time it was over 90 or under 40 degrees inside. If you sat down for 5 minutes you would be fired. This does not include working right next to a furnace with a fire resistant suit.

You dont know the meaning of hard work till you have worked in a union run factory.

people die from a lot of things. the government does not supply me with heat in the winter when it is 20 degrees below 0 F. I would say that is much more dangerous than 100 degree heat. i walk outside in the wind for more than just a few minutes and i will get frost bite, may survive an hour or 2 before being hypothermic and dieing soon after. I do work outside for long hours, usually 12 hour shifits. we are supplied heat in the winter to make our work possible, but no air in the summer. we do just fine.

People actually took care of themselves, their families, and their neighbors instead of relying on their government for every little thing. I know it's hard to imagine, but try anyway.

Incorrect. Much of California's Agricultural areas are Desert or near Desert. People didn't perform those Activities in those locations for 250, 000 years. It is not a Luxury, it is a necessity.
