Did Bush actually say the constitution is "just a piece of paper" ?

Actions speak louder than words, and based on his actions he clearly sees the Constitution as just one of those nuisance documents and he repeatedly refused to follow it, or defend it.

That's fine if it's yoru opinion that he feels that way, however don't go around trumpeting that he actually said those words.

It only makes you like like an idiot to anyone who isn't dumb enough not to actually verify the claim.

It's written on parchment, not paper, and it's significance is far greater than mere ink on any surface. It is the written definition of the basic underlying principles of our system of laws.

Whether Bush actually, publicly called the Constitution "a piece of paper" in so many words is academic. By his actions in office, he and his administration have shown their total disrespect and disregard for the rule of law the Constitution defines.
