Why do any of us? Because we have nothing better to do, so we're on AT :)

I care because I'm an Apple customer. ;)

AT is only an after thought at the moment. :p

It's so sad that people would rather something that looks pretty than works.

The Mac Mini works, I played with one the day after my b-day.
Right, but mac's entire marketing approach now is form first, function second. And if you want both (ipod) you're going to pay out the nose for it. Mac is big time trendy right now, and it's helping their market share beyond what the market would normally allow.

By normally do you mean if Apple's stuff looked as bland as PC stuff, broke as often as PC stuff, and had as shoddy of an OS as PC stuff? :p

Gawd, who beside Generation Y consumers would pay so much for so little?

The g3 iceBooks were an issue. Asus is making the iBooks now, IIRC.

Little is the point. Some of us don't have: a lot of money for electricity, unlimited space for large clunky computers, hearing aids. Small, economical, and quiet machines are a good thing. For some of us. :)

Every manf. can have a bad run of products. I went through 4 straight Dell inspiron 4000's that were DOA out of the box. I've had to replace a tape drive in my Poweredge 2500 server 7 times in 3 years. When I worked at John Deere it was a daily ritual to RMA Western Digital caviar HD's out of Gateway pc's.

Tell me about the wondrous "shittle". For Christ's sake, only lemmings would plunk their parent's hard earned money down for such crap!

You won't even bother to call it by the correct name, yet you expect intelligent responses?

I could use a bigger USB thumbdrive. I wouldn't mind an mp3 player. Problem solved.

It's just like Skoorb & I said. Gen Y, lemmings don't care if mommy & daddy's money is well spent.

Form over function? To Creative's chagrin, it appears that there might be a lot of takers. Apple's on a roll at the moment, and bizarrely, it's going to take a lot more than better products to halt it. - Text

Not bizarre at all. We expect no less from kiddie consumers who listen to rap & hip hop, to be any smarter about purchasing decisions, than their choice of "music".

1. I'm not Gen Y.
2. I don't spend mommy and daddy's money.
3. There is plenty of function.
4. Can't you be a man or are you stuck in whiney bitch mode?

One individual is NOT the reason this crap is selling. There actually is no logical reason why it should sell more units than more full featured products of the same price, other than their consumers are totally illogical (and sheep)!

Buying something you like over something you don't (that may or may not have more features) is illogical? Wow.

I hope the iPod Shuffle ships soon. I'm gonna get one, bigger and smaller than most mp3 players of that $$ range

Thats how I feel about the shuffle. The technology's been there for years, but all of sudden apple introduce one and people are like... wow... usb key drive and mp3 players?? amazing! :p

At least the shuffle isnt too expensive. But it's nothing special IMO.

The *ONLY* thing the shuffle has going for it over any other product is more memory for the money. Other than that it's less featured and less functional than the competition.

The Mini Mac on the other hand is an amazing product that should do incredible for Apple.
