Did anyone see the "r600" for sale on ebay?

Saw this on the inquirer. How could someone not know what they had? And if he was going ship what he showed in the pics (sure looks like an r600 to me), why would no one take the chance on it?

Would you have bought it? I'm almost tempted to email the guy and ask if he still has "that crappy video card" that didn't sell. "I'll give you $15 for it". :p

edit: forgot the link. http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=38360

I dont believe that for a second.

There's a reason why the auction was ended early.

I would have to say the same. But whats interesting is that the seller has a lot of other items up and has a pretty good feedback rating. Also, I thought that if a listing was ended early, it says that. This one says "bidding has ended". Why would a guy like this post a bs prank auction?

I would have agree on the shens, but its still a little wierd.

I contacted him after the auction closed about it and he never replied back. I think he realized (or someone told him) what he really had in his possession and pulled the card off of eBay. For $50, I would have bought it.

The highest bid was already up to $125 and that was in less than 5 mins... Funny that the inq doesn't even know how to read an ebay auction. The only reason that it is marked as "0 bids" is because they were cancelled.

Edit: even if this card didn't even work, or it performed poorly, it would probably still be an interesting collector's item. I almost grabbed one of the huge 7900GX2s last year from Monarch for the same reason.

Another thought about this auction... Perhaps it's from an OEM PC builder ( http://www.inercolor.com/main.htm ) with the same name and location as the seller, and they thought better of their actions when they considered that they were most likley breaching every contract they have with their ATI OEM supplier...

If you notice he says that for every "high end" auction he has. He had the exact same wording for another auction. I don't think he knows too much about what he has.

This is such BS.

How do you come into possession of an unreleased video card that everyone in the enthusiast graphics market would want and gladly pay 5x the amount he was asking and not know what you have?

Oh and another thing...

If that's an R600, where's the HDMI?

EDIT:

The seller ended this listing early because the item was lost or broken.

Taken from the actual auction page linked by anandtechrocks above.

vr-zone's pics of the retail X2900XTX don't have HDMI either.

I think the pictures of the card are the real deal, but it's anyone's guess if these guys actually had it in their possession or not or if there was ever a genuine intention of selling it. It could just be a mildly clever way of posting pics of the card or getting enthusiasts to view their other auctions.

IIRC, HDMI isn't in the plans for the highest end R600s; the midrange/low end will have HDMI though i think.

I can't remember where i saw though...
