Did anyone pay extra for the Xbox service contract?

Since when did you have to pay for a real warranty? Its total BS, but I'm thinking I should buy the warranty....

If you got the replacement plan from Circuit City, you can send it in and get store credit for the purchase price = new game system in 2 years.

Very good point fr, I was reading the replacement lit today at my local CC and was wondering if it was worth it or not, guess it is 🙂

If you do get it...

Make sure you keep the manual for the system. I believe there is some clause about that in the terms and conditions (white booklet you don't get unless you ask) that says you must send back all the original accessories. The brochure only lists the abbreviated features of the replacement plan.

Does that mean that if the XBOX2 or PS3 is out in 2 years, I could just take back my XBOX and get a store credit, which I can use to purchase a XBOX2 or PS3? Do they give a store credit for the original amount? or current price? I'm sure the XBOX will be like $100 or $150 in 2 years. Next, has anyone had any experiance with replacement plans from CC? I've heard many horror stories from BestBuy and am just wondering how CC is.

Well you don't bring it back to the store, you call their insurance company and they will authorize you to ship it back because it's defective(i.e. doesn't power on; graphic artifacts; controller won't respond; it has trouble reading very scratched discs; it makes loud noises; runs slowly...you get the idea) and covered under the replacement plan. They send you a prepaid shipping box and you put all the stuff in. 14 days after they receive it, they will cut you a check for the amount you paid (not including tax) that you can use to spend on anything at any Circuit City store.

So, yes, you could get a PS3/XBOX2/27"TV/4 CD players/10 corded phones using that check in 2 years. Just make sure you understand the terms (keep all original accessories, no accidental damage, etc.) and you should be fine.

I think what they will hope is that you'll forget about it or you won't be willing to go through all the trouble of sending it back.

I got the 2 year from eb due to the nature of the video game consoles. As long as It can be brought in (in 10, 20, or 30 pieces) I can get an exchange
