Did anyone order HTC One?

My battery's back to normal. So, anyone got 4.3 OTA already? I saw some reports of people getting it but my phone still says nothing there...
US HTC president promised it for TMO this week, VZW later this month. ATT and Sprint already have it available for users. Not sure about Europe.

So...4.3, not really sure why people were all up in arms at HTC/carriers waiting for this.

4.1.2 was just fine, and I don't really see much difference. I mean some of the options are nice I suppose.

So, did 4.3 rock your world like people made it out? For me, not even slightly.

People always want the latest, whether they can actually see the improvements or not.

Due to a short, but brutal fight with gravity that my old Xperia lost, I'm now ONE with the htc force. Since I'm a love-struck ONE rookie, I will be asking some noob questions, but please be patient with me - 1080p IPS on a phone? OMG!!! Can't stop looking at it! Help!

Just downloading the 4.3 update now, but the most important question is...

With my recent deceleration allergies, what's a great case for the ONE? What about wallet-style cases to protect that gorgeous 1080p IPS screen? Alternately, is it considered unfashionable to carry the ONE in 3 inches of bubblewrap?

How do you stop staring at 1080p IPS screen? 😉

Thanks for any tips.

HTC Double Dip

I got a devilcase aluminum bumper for mine. haven't dropped it yet, but it certainly seems very solid. it's a metal frame around the device so it would be unlikely for the device to get dented. and the back of the phone is metal and surprisingly scratch resistant.

I have like 4 Poetic Atmosphere cases.. They shipped me two for free due to their first design covering the IR button. Do use these the most out of the 10 or so cases I have.. lol

That's what I'm looking for! Coupled with a few layers of kevlar bubble wrap, I'll be ready to tackle gravity again.

Thanks for all suggestions, everyone.

BUT, how do you stop staring at the stunning screen??! Will I need to add a screen protector for the drool?

I want to know what phone you are coming from that it's that big a deal. It's excellent and still probably the best display or at least one of the best overall in a phone, but the OLEDs in the Galaxy S series and other phones are pretty nice, too. You get used to it after a while.

The speakers still manage to impress me, though, every time I try using other phones. It's just really nice being able to use the phone without a dock and still being able to hear music, podcasts, or lectures across the room fairly clearly and with decent quality.

Love using my One as a remote, too. Better than the Logitech Harmony I had a year ago. And I think the Media Link HD (wireless streamer) is the best implementation of Miracast, and one that very few people have heard of apparently. I think Samsung has a similar option but of course it only works between their own devices (no way would I buy a Samsung TV just to work with a phone). Media Link HD is worth the difference over a Roku or Chromecast, in my opinion, and if you preordered the HTC One you got it for free. 🙂

Old and slow Sony Xperia Pro - but it had a real keyboard and very decent camera for its time, but a low rez TN screen. This is what happens when you only upgrade your device when it breaks. ;-)

The LG G2 screen impressed too, the OLED S4 not so much - too saturated. And the Sammy bloatware, yuck. Thought about waiting for the N5, but the ONE was FREE with a 2yr. contract. Free ONE? Ok, I'm sold.

Have to get accustomed to typing on that gorgeous screen. Not much of a touchscreen typist/swiper yet. And then there's the speed. All my reflexes had been trained for significant lag. No more poignant pauses.

Agree, the ONE's speakers are great. Front facing speakers FTW! It should be a standard rather than the exception. It's like having a portable multimedia device that actually works. ;-)

Will check out the remote capabilities. Is there an espresso machine control addon in there?

Yeah, OLED is a bit saturated, but I actually like that contrast and black level. But plenty of people don't, and LCD has that nice brightness. I notice a lot of S4 users keep their device fairly dim while on medium brightness the One is effectively bright everywhere except outside on sunny day. Agreed about TouchWiz. Certainly would take the One for free on contract over waiting for the Nexus 5, though off-contract it's going to be the best phone to get, most likely. Good deal for you. 🙂

No idea if it can control an espresso machine, lol. But the infrared remote and app controls my receiver, FiOS box/DVR, and television just fine.

A small glitch in perfection. The otherwise perfect screen now has developed a small flaw - there is a white spot or rather a slash on the left edge of the screen in the middle. Not a stuck pixel - would need to be hundreds of stuck pixels as it is about 2mm long by .75mm wide on a diagonal. Very noticeable on white backgrounds where it appears brighter than white. Invisible on a black background.

Now that I've got 4.3 installed and the phone fully personalized, is it time to RMA it?

are you sure it's not a scratch?

I'm good at scratching things, but not good enough to create self-illuminating scratches. Screen surface is perfect, the 'scratch' or 'light blotch' appears beneath the LCD. It's emitting light. Like backlight bleed but with a specific shape.
