I just saw this movie and I really got into it. I didn't expect much, but I was pleased. It was the first movie I've seen w/ Jude Law and I think he did a good job. I thought Ed Harris' role was a little cheesy. I wish they showed more of how he became the Nazi's best sniper. The sniper perspective was just real cool.

Most memorable scene: (might be a spoiler)

The most disturbing scene was when the young Russian boys tried to take on the Nazi barricade. They were overwhelmed and torn apart. They tried to retreat, only to have the Russian superiors yell, "kill the deserters!" These young men were shot from both sides. I felt sick to my stomach from the cold hearted killing by their own. Piles of bodies on top of each other.

Great movie, IMHO.

I thought it was a pretty decent film...not ground-breaking, but entertaining.

Getting an eyeful of Rachel Weisz' hind end was a nice bonus as well.:D

How could you not fall in love w/ Rachel Weisz in this movie. Among all the bloodshed and dark images, she really captures your heart. At least the love scene wasn't too contrived. I mean, they didn't make it all romantic and pretty. Although, I kept thinking, why doesn't the guy next to him wake up?

He was wide awake, just pretending to sleep so they wouldnt stop. I mean, what would you do?
Good movie btw.

I thought this movie was great...even for a war movie. My favorite scene was the love scene. One of the best around....it was so beautiful...and kind of erotic...in an artistic sort of way!;)

The real story behind the Movie

I saw an hour program on the history channel about that once. Way before they made the Movie. It was pretty interesting.

i did my own research on the net after i saw the movie, i would like to see that history channel show though, that would be really interesting.

I think it could have been better if they went either with full fledged boobage or cutting the scene. Not taking the middle road like they did in the movie. :)

That's one thing that it seems most people don't know about the ruthlessness of Stalin and how the Russians would kill their own if they did not fight as in the movie. One of my ex-gf's granddad fought for the Germans on the eastern front in WWII and told me how the Russians were making women and the old fight too or they would kill them, pretty gruesome stuff. Shows you the horrors of war and how some leaders will do anything to win.

Well conisder the alternative........

I really liked the movie, all in all I thought the love scene was pretty tasteful and well done. Nice to see some directors steering away from gratuitus sex. :)

I disagree. He knew from the captured Russian how they managed to get around in the bombed out buildings. The telephone repairmen that were shot gave him their approximate location and by using the Russian as bait was able to determine their exact location. Once the shot was fired he knew they would relocate and which floor they were on so he targeted the gap he suspected they would leap across. Hence the shot was carefully setup and he was after all, the best sniper alive ;) I think it's a great flick and really enjoyed seeing a WWII movie from the Russian perspective.
