I'm trying to convince my friend that this game was 80 dollars. He swears to me that he got it for 50 dollars.

The only proof I have is this site: http://www.fantasyanime.com/squaresoft/ctabout.htm

but he doesn't believe it.

Of course I'm sure he'll think you are all liars (He never trusts me when I tell him everyone on ATOT makes 100k, has 14 inches and 2 hot babes ;))

but I want to see if anyone here did indeed buy the game retail many many moons ago and paid 80 for it. Thanks =)

Sweet jesus that was a long time ago. I had it (and still do) but I can't even begin to tell you how much I paid for it.

Oh wait, I paid 80 bucks.... yea, 80 bucks. ;)

I am 100% postive it was $70 ($69.99) when I purchased it. This was on it's release day.

$80 is the first number that came to mind when I read the thread title.

Obviously you've never played the game, its worth the price and more unlike the games of today.

Plus I believe it was a larger capacity cart which caused it to cost vastly more to produce

I remember it being $70. I need to see if I still have the game.

I remember Phantasy Star 4 was $99 retail.

It was $70 from Toys R us, back when people still went there to buy video games. At the time I couldn't bring myself to spend that much so I borrowed it from a friend. I found it in a used games store 3 or 4 years ago, paid $20 for it.

I have, both on my snes, on the computer as a rom years later and then in my dreams when Chrono Resurrection was shut down.

Back when it came out, 80 bucks was well, probably the equivalent to about 500+ bucks to me now, and iono if I'd pay that much for a game. Luckily my brother bought it. ;)

I paid $70 for a game genie just to do the stupid ass boss code in the original Street Fighter II.

EDIT: and yes thats after not paying $70 for Chrono Trigger, I fail.
