Maybe a Fernian slip.

Newt seems a smart guy, he thinks outside the box and throws out more new ideas than all the others combined. Oh, and the press hates his guts.

So how do you feel about Newt pressing his wife for a divorce as she lay in her hospital bed recovering from cancer surgery - the wife who was at one time his high school teacher - and carried out that affair while he was a student of hers?

As for Dick Morris, I doubt there'd be as much love for him, if he hadn't had his fallout with the Clintons....

But I guess folks jus' love a lapdog.....

You guys just love the divorce story, makes for good negative coverage I guess.

However, if he is running against Hillary, whose Husband had a very visable affair with a 22 year old and she did nothing about it, then the personal baggage thing sort of evens out.

A race between them would be interesting, because niether of them could go negative due their own baggage, but everyone else would be throwing the mud by the truck load.

IF a race between them became a race based on ideas then Hillary is in BIG trouble since Newt is excellent at getting his point across.

AS for Newt, or any other candidate, right now I'm more interested in policies (Iraq, the border etc) than personal info.

AS for Morris, I find his comments interesting. If he hadn't had a fallout I suspect we wouldn't be hearing his political analysis - he'd be working for Hillary.

I keep hearing about what an evil genius Rove is, I've wondered if after leaving politics he'd be as interesting as Morris.

Do you even know why Newt has been out of politics for so long? Ethics, I'm sure you've heard of them.

It's an interesting aside about his wife, reveals a lot about his character or lack there-of and pretty much rules out any support from the religious right. Which most of the R candidates are in full pander mode to right about now.

Newt left after the 1998 election results in which the Republicans lost seats.

He announced his decision to resign his seat only a few days after the election.

You can try to pin his leaving on ethics, but I do not believe that any serious charge ever stuck to him. If I am wrong please post a link showing what he did wrong with some proof, in other words don?t post some dailykos BS about him.
