Sad but he had a long life.

In other news Ryan Seacrest can now become the official New Years eve host, which honestly is long overdue.

I noticed the last couple years he was slurring his words pretty bad, did he have a history of drinking issues? Atleast he probably had a DD I hope.

RIP. It was indeed painful watching him deteriorate after his stroke.:(

The first few years after the stroke were a lot worse than recent years (My wife is a speech therapist, so I got the clinical description of his speech problems every year).

Ryan Seacrest must be crying shamelessly. ^_^

So true. LOL.

It's more than just New Year's Eve. Seacrest is Clark's hand picked successor for his entire enterprise (or what hasn't been sold off, at least).

The American Bandstand would air live on Saturday mornings. In the late 1960's the 45 RPM record was the product of choice for a new single being released by a musical group. A group that had a new record could receive a huge boost to their sales by having it played on Dick Clark's show, or even better performing live, (lip synching ).

The show would generate publicity that preceded the release of the 45 on the next Monday. Record companies and promoters loved the exposure the dance show gave their performers.
