Dice player for Android now free /w ads

Dice player used to be paid app. But it got pulled from the Android market because of some Google payment/checkout issue. I checked today and was pleasantly surprised it's now available again for free but with ads. I needed video player and Dice player is supposed to be the best with native h/w acceleration support.

How does it compare to MX Player? I've been using MX because it's not a paid app and also seems to have decent HW Accel support.

well itll play 720 anime rips without me having to reprocess them through handbrake (this may just be that the chip in the Gnex is THAT much better then the Tegra2), but its still pretty impressive how smoothly it plays these MKVs

the ad only appears when you exit full screen mode to pause and whatnot

The Tegra2 decoders are pathetic compared to the ones in the GNex =)

What are you guys using to stream media to your diceplayer? I have a non-rooted gnex, and the only program that works is es file explorer, but its slow as heck transferring files on my wifi. Streaming or copying files with es file explorer, I only get about 600k/sec from my 802.11g wifi and all my movies streams become choppy.

I used another program call wifi file transfer, and I get my full wifi speed of ~2.5MB/sec, which proves it is not my network, but I cant steam with this program. Are there any better wifi access program so that I can stream media from a windows share?

Funny, I've been waiting for the paid version to come back...

What's the best media player that doesn't have ads? I find that ads tend to mess with the picture when I have my phone hooked up to the TV. I'm sure it's probably just my very cheaply bought MHL adapter, but it's easier to download/uninstall an app than it is to ship an actual product.

Nothing is close to Dice Player.

Thank goodness I bought the non-ad version a while back. For those that didn't, the alternative route to not be discussed here would seem tempting this one time.

Is there no other way to buy it from the devs and get an .apk?

I decided to buy a Transformer TF300 (took me long enough). I've seen people mention DicePlayer a bit, and I was wondering if it's still the best choice for a network-capable many-format (H.264/MKV, XVID/AVI, etc) media player?

I really like MX player too. Haven't found an issue with playing any of my mkvs with hardware that can play it, so haven't had a need to look elsewhere.

didn't like dice player much, oddly enough the best media player out of the 8 or so I've tried on Android was the Samsung one. it seemed to play the most types of videos with the least amount of problems.
