Not to derail the thread but 28 weeks later really wasn't that good at all. It started well enough but the whole thing with the main infected character just lost me. Wasn't necessary at all for the movie and wasn't at all believable.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of Romero and zombie movies in general, so I hope this Diary of the Dead is good.

I don't care if it was believable, it was awesome and totally unexpected. Since when does something have to be believable in a friggen zombie movie anyways. I think what the main character did was exactly what I wanted the main character in any movie ever to do.

 skace thank you for saying what I was able to say!

Lets just hope Diary of the Dead can be even better!

Looks promising!

I know it'll get compared to Cloverfield due to the way it's filmed but in fairness, this movie has been in the works for ages now.

Romero sucks, it seems like he read world war z and thought "hmm, interesting concept, now combine this with cloverfield and...."

Yes he did formalize the zombie genre but Land of the Dead was one of the only movies I've ever walked out of and the remake of dawn of the dead was better the original, sorry Romero, retire...

You should notice. Romero announced this movie in August 2006, World War Z was first published in September 2006, and Cloverfield was announced in July with the release of Transformers.

Land of the Dead was pretty bad, but nothing beats the original Night, Dawn, Day. I enjoyed the remake Dawn, but it was not the original nor as good.

I think the resurgence of the zombie movie is due more to Resident Evil games and the first movie than to things like 28 Days Later.

At least it won't have a shaking camera and will look like actual film. George has done us proud!

28 days later disappointed me a lot like the horrible ending. 28 weeks later was a lot better because it had more zombie scenes and cooler zombie kills!

28 weeks later was a mindless action flick that had none of the atmosphere that 28 days later had.

Romero's first film was his best imo.
It was gritty and raw.

Everything since then hasn't been that great.
Still, I hope this one is good.

I am eagerly waiting to watch it but I have my doubts after the last Dawn of the Dead remake which made zombies into intelligent problem solvers and deep sea divers

You're talking about Land of the Dead, and yes, it sucked. The Dawn remake I thought was pretty good.

I liked Land of the Dead... I liked the Dawn of the Dead remake... I have more tolerance for crap in Zombie movies than any other genre because they're just so damn fun.
