According to the family and their lawyer, the massive amount of alcohol and marijuana in her system did not cause the crash.............

The culprit? Apparently she was a diabetic and must have had a stroke or something.

The husband "goes to bed every night knowing his heart is clear".

Does the stupidity ever end?

 
Apparently it was one hell of a camping trip. I've been thinking it was odd how no witnesses had come forward who knew what went on at that campground that morning. Now we know why. I'll bet there's going to be some digging into what took place there now. I doubt she was getting high and drunk off her ass alone with her kids.
 
.19 for a female is absolutely shit housed drunk. actually .19 for anyone is shit housed drunk. Being stoned doesn't help but that was certainly not a deciding factor here.
 
.19 is the same effect on a woman as it is a man. It just takes less amounts of alcohol. Either the way this lady is/was nuts
 
What bothers me about this is the crash occurred around 1:30 pm when she was coming back from a camping trip with her kids and nieces.

how the hell did she get that far even before the Taconic without anyone noticing drunken driving? EDIT> apparently it was witnessed, but either it wasn't reported or she wasn't caught in time.

Does anyone know the actual reason why they don't have a mandatory prison sentence for DUI? That would make someone think twice before even putting the bottle to their mouth.

I still feel horrible for her brother and his wife... losing all 3 of their kids. No words could describe that heartache.

Yeah. Had it been just the pot then she would have been fine I'm sure. The combo is a killer for those who don't smoke a lot though... .19 is up there.

That 5 year old that survived is gonna be fucked up. If someone asks, "where's your mom?", "oh she got wasted, drove the wrong way on a highway, killed herself and my sisters, and killed 3 people in another car".

I agree, but it also depends on how often a person smokes, how much they smoke, and how strong the pot is.

In my much younger days I smoked some strong stuff and there is no way in hell I would have driven anywhere. Would I have known what I was doing when I was driving? Yes, but it would not have improved my driving.

I'm also pro-legalization of pot. However that doesn't mean I want it to be legal to drive while high. Hell people have hard enough time driving + eating fast food/cellphones/kids in the back/looking at maps. I don't want anything else hindering their performance. And weed affects performance either way.

However in this case, with a BAC of .19 she was fucked from the moment she got into the car weed or no weed.

I agree, but still, if she was shit faced drunk, any kind of weed just made it worse. Upper and a downer? If she was an alcoholic that might have been ok driving, but had never smoked weed, and someone got her drunk then smoked her out with some find bud, i'm sure it made things much worse.

I too believe pot should be legalized, but same laws apply as do alchohol.

if you read the article her brother told her to wait on the side of the road for him after she called and said she didn't feel well. Apparently she did not listen.

Women either dont have, or have less of, the enzyme that breaks down alcohol. 0.19 has a stonger effect on them.
You are correct about the other part. Since they tend to weigh less, they dont need to drink as much to get there.
