Imagine if Rush Limbaugh was on NPR... how long would it take for the funding to be pulled?
I listened to the first several minutes and heard nothing inappropriate, this was one of those 'the facts have a liberal bias' things that create baseless rage in the right.
Unfortunately, there's not a single liberal tv person I can think of who doesn't have a voice that's unpleasant - Maddow, Olbermann, O'Donnell. Radio is mostly better.
Diane Rehm isn't anywhere close to Rush Limbaugh... that's ridiculous.
I've also heard her let her bias slip out a few times.
There were NO facts spouted. She was purely saying "You should be outraged! You should be marching on washington!". That is not fact, that is opinion.I listened to the first several minutes and heard nothing inappropriate, this was one of those 'the facts have a liberal bias' things that create baseless rage in the right.

I don't care about the others, but I actually liked Olbermann's voice. It's the only reason I could really ever watch him since being on the political left I don't like extreme partisan hackery from my media pundits like the right does.
After checking her site, doesn't look to be a news show... so who gives a shit if she voices an opinion?

I really don't care about the voice, I care about the facts. When shows start to depart from the facts, I stop listening.
I listen to NPR because it usually has pretty good journalistic standards. They don't generally just complain about how bad the other guys are (rightwing talk radio) but rather mention what is going on. When I've listen to Diane Rehm in the past, even though she is left leaning she usually has some good solid content. This show was terrible, she abandoned all journalistic standards that she has previously had and just went off.
Not really news, just disappointing. I'm wondering if anyone else noticed it.
Exactly, it sounds like she just lost her temper and went off.
At Fox News that would be considered doing your day's work.

Yeah, I've pretty much abandoned FoxNews as well. I'm too old to be pissed all the time, and just old enough to figure out that the same damned outrages happen no matter who's in charge in D.C.Which is why I don't really watch fox any more. Even though I am right leaning, the current crop of right wing media is somewhat abysmal. They simply don't report the issues. They are completely composed of opinion pieces and non-issue topics. They care WAY to much about frivolous things (really, most left leaning media is this way as well.)
I prefer my media to report the issues with as little bias as possible. Let me make up my own mind.
She's hosts the last intelligent program left on NPR. Yes, she is a liberal and it shows. However she is also willing to ask guests intelligent questions and call them on BS answers. She also gargles with lit cigarettes so it takes effort to get used to her voice. She reminds me of how NPR used to be decades ago before they dumbed everything down.Who is Diane Rehm?

So, I take this to mean that you didn't actually listen to the show in question. Good to know.Get a damn life all you righty tighties, anyone remotely unbiased and middle of the road, sounds like the radical left from the standpoint of the radical right.
If you righty tighties really want to foam at the mouth, there is far more left wing programming to listen to.
But cheer up you righty tighties, you have so many Limbaugh and Limbaugh wantabees to listen to. And if the FCC ever wants to reassert the fairness doctrine, Limbaugh and his ilk won't last five more minutes on public airwaves. As for most other mainstream personalties, they will more than meet the FCC fairness doctrine sniff tests.
As for Fox news, dare I hope, Rupert Murdock will go to jail.
Mainly the fact that there were no tax increases. The whole show was her trying to get callers to call in and complain about the situation that we are in.
There would be no need for funding because enough people would actually want to listen to the content to justify it's existence and pay for itself. Now there's a crazy idea.

If you can find it, I found ABC Radio News to be freakin' great. Unfortunately our local radio station dropped it in favor of FoxNews Radio News, which isn't that bad but is not of the quality of ABC Radio News. NPR does some good stuff though; they are a bunch of liberals, but they seem to generally try to be accurate and honest.
With all due respect to Diane Rehm, it seems to me the neurological condition that makes her voice like that is a disqualifier to being a radio personality. I find her unlistenable due to her voice and so I have never really tried to listen to her program.
She is openly a far left liberal beach.. she scolds conservatives on the show all the time. Her voice gives me creeps. Only thing one can take solace on is her age...
