Diamond Viper II

You sure it's not $59.99 OEM? I am currently looking at this card ~$50 and thinks its good if you can stand flying trees and no support (basically a throw-away card). Anyway I heard there was a $50 rebate from Best Buy, Outpost, and some others. What's the deal?

yeah its cheap, the drivers are pretty mature now. It gives somewhere between geforce sdr and geforce ddr speed in win98. A little slower than a gf2mx, and well for $50 around, great card. Especially if you play quake 3 and UT , since it has special support in those games (i.e. metal api in UT, and can use the special texture CD)

MRFries, yes actually the deal at www.computers4sure.com is $59.99, but there is a $20.00 mail-in rebate. So final price is $39.99.

You said you saw a $50 rebate at Outpost and Bestbuy? I couldn't find it at either site. If you do know the actual site, please do let me know.

🙂

Just got this card from computers4sure. Downloaded the latest drivers, and installed
it w/o any problems (unlike GF2 MX which I had to return). So far, every game I tried works great. On my o/c Duron 800/Kt7/128MB PC133 CAS3 the 3D Mark2000 score is ~3400 (that's all "stock", nothing overclocked). Once I tweek it little bit, I should be able to get possibly couple 100s more.
Overall, I am very happy - after all where can you get this kind of performance for $44 shipped???

MRFries - aren't all video cards "throw-aways" nowadays??? At least when it's time to throw this one away, I won't be out of $$$ like all the people who bought TNT2 Ultras/GF SDRs/GF DDR/ GF2 xxx etc...

For casual gamer, this is a great card.
