diamond viper 2, s3 chip or tnt2 chip?

hi i was under the impression that this card used the tnt2 chip ( guess i was wrong! ) now im wondering if they all used the s3 chip and if not is there any way to tell? thanks

The Viper 2 uses the Savage 2000 chip. Check the anandtech review.

yeah...don't confuse the viper2 with the earlier vipers (v330, v550, v770) which were based on tnt or tnt2 chips

Yah...it's not based on an nVidia chipset. Surprisingly enough, it performs pretty well though.

It performed decently enough for it's time and the price was pretty good. It had a horrendously buggy T&L unit that was eventually disabled entirely though, and the drivers arent all that great either.

s3 had a great idea but poor implementation
